Lord Shiva
Shiva is one of the Gods of the Trinity. Lord Siva sits in a meditative pose against the white background of the snow-capped Himalayas in Mount Kailas. His posture symbolizes perfect inner harmony and poise, experienced by a man of Realization. He is noted in God-Consciousness. Nothing disturbs him. Lord Siva not only represents the supreme state of perfection in man but in his very pose indicates the way to reach it as well. He is also a great ascetic and the patron duty of ascetics generally.
He is said to be the God of destruction. He stays in horrible places such as battlefield, burning-grounds and crossroads, which destroys all them.
Siva is said to have a third eye known as an eye of wisdom-whose vision reaches beyond the physical to divine vision of reality.
Siva is married to the Goddess Uma who represents the whole nature which is perishable matter. Siva?s marriage with Uma signifies that human nature could rise above and transform itself into Divine Siva (Blessed Nature) |
